Engineers for a major midstream in Texas, USA had a problem: they were transporting highly corrosive brine in a 36″ diameter pipeline. They had specified a robust internal epoxy coating to protect the steel from corrosion, but had limited access to coat the interior of the welded joints manually.
FlexSleeve was selected to be used for the challenging tie-in joints. FlexSleeve’s light-weight, flexible design allowed for it to be easily handled and inserted into pipe ends. The welds passed NDE examination, the pipeline was pigged and commissioned, and the contractor saved several days of construction time and prevented the need for dangerous confined space entry.
